Our Ex Pupil’s Association was founded in 1924 and some 60 years later it was transformed into the Swiss Cottage and Dorton House Schools ex-Pupils Association for the Blind.

With the aim of bringing former students together, the group organises events, outings and get-togethers throughout the year. An Annual General Meeting is also held for all members.

This long-standing alumni association has allowed us to keep in touch with former students and has helped individuals to build lasting friendships with other former students and staff.

Joining the Association

Currently comprising 75 members, the association offers two types of membership – full and associate.

Anyone who attended The Salusbury Road Workshops, Dorton College or Dorton House School is eligible to receive full membership while associate membership is open to any blind person or relative of a full member.

Our annual subscription is currently £10 for all members and ex-staff. However, for a fee of £50 after having been a full or associate member for five years, any person can become a life member.

The group offers a small benevolent gift system which covers Death of a Member, Sickness and a Hardship fund.
