RSBC is looking for an experienced senior HR professional with volunteer leadership experience to lead the HR and volunteering functions of the organisation. A senior HR professional the postholder will also join the RSBC’s senior leadership team to support the delivery of our strategy.

RSBC has embarked on a strategy to support 11,000 blind and partially sighted young people by 2020. Our people – staff and volunteers are central to the achievement of that strategic goal.

We are looking for an experienced senior HR professional with volunteer leadership experience to join RSBC’s Senior Leadership team. 

Working alongside the Director of Services and People they will be responsible for developing and delivering strategies for staff and volunteers that will support the organisations strategic goals; RHRidentifying priorities within the HR and volunteering operational plans; and delivering initiatives that will strengthen employee/volunteer relations; ensure compliance with current legislation; and maximise performance and development across the organisation. 

Overseeing approximately 100 staff and around 150 volunteers, the Head of HR and Volunteering will have direct line management responsibility of an HR Administrator and a part-time Volunteer Co-ordinator. The role is also responsible for the management of the Society’s part-time cleaner in Dalston.

The successful candidate will be CIPD qualified (or equivalent) with good knowledge of UK employment law and best practice and significant experience of managing a generalist HR function and team. Knowledge and experience of HR in an education setting would also be desirable. The successful candidate will also have experience of leading volunteering and a demonstrable track record in managing a multi-disciplinary team.

Due to the nature of the Society’s work, the successful candidate will be required to hold a current and acceptable enhanced DBS check, or be willing to undertake one.
