New owner of Dorton site

In January 2017, RSBC merged with the Royal London Society for Blind People (RLSB). Although we are now called RSBC, there may be some references to RLSB in the following article.

RLSB’s Chairman Ian Stephenson said: “We always wanted a new owner who understood the history and local relevance of this important site and we believe PegasusLife will uphold the standing of this wonderful place.”

RLSB is also pleased to announce that PegasusLife is leasing back some of the site’s buildings to the charity on a short term basis for a nominal rent. This means that staff will remain in three of the buildings at the College site until at least August 2014. The RLSB nursery will continue in its current location for up to six months prior to moving to the College’s Student Centre.

RLSB’s exciting new work with blind young people will continue to be provided in communities in 12 London Boroughs and Sussex where it is currently offering community services ranging from a drop-in nursery in Greenwich, sport in Lewisham and social and peer groups in Tower Hamlets.

In Kent, RLSB students attending Bromley College are living in two houses in the town and are the first students to experience RLSB’s new model of working with blind young people in the communities where they live and learn.
