Our Family Support Service provides practical and emotional support at every stage of your family’s experience, whether you’ve recently found out about your child’s sight condition, or if their sight loss is part of other needs.

Coping with a diagnosis

Discovering that your child has a sight condition can be a difficult and confusing time. You may feel anxious about what the future holds and have lots of questions.

We are on hand from the moment you hear the news, helping you to understand the condition and prognosis, adapt to its challenges, and build confidence so that your family can access every opportunity to ensure you have fulfilled and happy lives.

We can help you identify and access the support that best meets the needs of you and your family.

We'll be there to support you in dealing with a range of professionals and statutory bodies in a wide range of unfamiliar situations.

You will have some important decisions to make about your child’s future, including their education.

We’ll help you to explore all the options so that you can make the right decisions for your child and your family. We’ll also give you the confidence to take the lead in developing your child’s independence and life skills, so that they have the courage and motivation to explore, learn and play.
