Making a difference
The voices of blind and partially sighted children and young people and their families are at the heart of everything we do at RSBC.
Each year, we carry out a survey which helps us understand what’s working well, where we can improve, and how we can make sure every young person with vision impairment has the chance to thrive.
We invite the children, young people and families we support to complete the survey, as well as the professionals we work in partnership with, and families who haven’t yet been supported by us. If you receive an invitation, then please do fill it out, because your feedback guides how we plan, deliver and improve our services - from the types of activities we run, to the way we communicate and connect with families.
What you told us last year
In 2024, 87% of people who responded to the survey said they’d recommend RSBC to another family or young person. Families and young people told us they most valued:
- The emotional support and understanding they receive
- Opportunities to make friends and connect with others
- Support that helps build confidence and independence
Last year in numbers
• 87% would recommend RSBC to others
• 73% of families and young people gave a 10/10 satisfaction score
• 36% said making friends is still a top challenge
• 33% highlighted a need for more opportunities to meet other VI young people
You said, we did
You also told us about how we could do more, particularly around raising awareness of our services, offering more regional and online activities, and giving extra notice of upcoming events.
We listened. Since then, we’ve expanded our online offer, introduced new activities, and are working to grow our regional programme so more young people and families can connect locally.
Your feedback is helping us make RSBC’s support even more inclusive and accessible.
Help shape what happens next
We’d love to hear from you again this year. It only takes around 5 minutes to complete the survey, and your feedback helps us make a real difference.
All answers are treated in confidence and used only for research purposes. Taking part won’t affect the care or services you receive from RSBC.
Thank you for helping us shape RSBC’s future! Together, we can make sure every young person with vision impairment has the chance to live their life without limits.
