Family support
If your child has received a vision impairment diagnosis, it can help to know you have someone in your corner.
Specialist advice from our 'Families First' service can help make life easier to navigate together as a family.
Who is this service for?
-
You, or anyone in your family, who has been affected by your child’s vision impairment – including brothers, sisters, and extended family members
-
Any child or young person in England and Wales who has a vision impairment, from 0-25 years old.

How does it work?
Your Family Practitioner will spend time with you, to get to know you and your family, so that they can understand how best we can help. If it’s right for your family, we can meet with your other children. We can do this at home, we can meet you at school, or wherever you feel most comfortable.
We can also, with your permission, work with other professionals so that everyone’s working towards the same goals.
