Trial Ray-Ban Meta Glasses for free

We are proud to be the first VI charity in the UK to offer a loaning scheme for Meta Glasses, allowing our service users the chance to trail this new assistive technology, free of charge.

What are Ray-Ban Meta Glasses?

Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses look like a regular pair of glasses, but they have built in technology that can support everyday tasks.

They include:

  • A small camera
  • A microphone
  • Open ear speakers
  • Built in AI support

They can also be fitted with prescription lenses and different glare filters, so they can work as everyday glasses as well as a piece of technology.

What makes them an accessible technology?

The Ray-Ban Meta Glasses have many features that can make everyday life easier for blind and partially sighted young people.

These features include:

  • Built in AI to describe the world around you in real time - helping to identify places, objects and everyday situations
  • Open ear-audio - so you can hear the signs, labels and printed text being read out loud whilst stilling being able to hear noises around you
  • Guided assistance through WhatsApp or BeMyEyes - so a sighted volunteer, family or friend can guide you
  • The look and feel like everyday glasses, with customisable styles and prescription lenses available

This is why we think it's important for young people to be able to trail this technology, to understand how it could support them to gain independance in their lives.

Want to give them a go?

Our Meta Glasses loaning scheme is the first of it's kind in the UK. Before you get started there a few things you must check first.

  • You must be 13+ years old to borrow the glasses.
  • You will need to sign our loan agreement.
  • The standard loan period is one calendar month from the day you submit this agreement.
  • Extensions must be requested in advance and may or may not be approved.
  • Users are required to sign-up with their own Meta accounts to ensure appropriate age limits are set.
  • If you do not have a Meta account, your glasses up with the RSBC Meta account, with set to age limits 13 which may impact your access to certain applications.

Once you've receieved your Ray-Ban Meta Glasses, our habilitation specialists can offer 1:1 support to help you intergrate them into your life and make the most out of their accessibility features.
