Most vision impaired children are able to go to a mainstream playgroup or nursery. This can help them with:
- confidence
- learning
- how to mix with others
- how to get around in new places
If your child has a QTVI, they can work with you to help find a nursery that can support your child.
You may need to:
- give them a little more time to settle
- help the nursery to work out all the things that are available
- get to know well, your child’s ‘key person’ who is responsible for their care
RSBC’s Family Support Service can help you with:
- practical advice about your child’s development
- support when you feel overwhelmed
- understanding your child’s vision impairment better
- living as a family and being supportive of each other
