Happiness

Three laughing young people on a 'Merry go round'.

Happiness

What is happiness? Happiness is like a colourful puzzle with many different pieces. Each person might see it in their own special way! But if we try to understand it together, we can say that happiness is a mix of good feelings and emotions. It can be feeling joyful, excited, proud, thankful, and satisfied! We often think about happiness based on how we feel right now or how we feel about our lives in general. It might be because we have good friends, take care of ourselves, or feel proud of things we’ve done. Happiness is like your own special painting – you get to decide what it looks like!

The Importance of Happiness

Why is happiness important? Happiness is like magic because it can make good things happen in our lives! It helps us feel better both in our minds and bodies. For example, feeling happy might make us want to eat yummy fruits and vegetables or play outside more. It can also make us healthier, so we don’t get sick as often. When we’re happy, we feel like we have everything we need in life.

Embracing Happiness

Happiness also helps us deal with tough times. It’s like having a superhero power to overcome challenges and feel strong inside. And when we’re happy, we can spread that happiness to others around us. It’s like passing around a glowing smile that makes everyone feel warm and fuzzy inside!

What can you do to make yourself happy? Here are some special things you can do to fill your days with happiness:

  • Make friends: Joining clubs or groups or activities where you can meet new friends can make you feel happier and less alone. Meeting new friends and doing fun things together can make you smile, even on cloudy days! (Check out RSBC’s Boys Crew, Sisterhood, Film Club, or Audio Book Club)
  • Take care of yourself: Sometimes, it’s important to take time just for you. You can do things you love, like listening to stories, taking walks, or just resting. Taking care of yourself helps you feel happy and strong.
  • Be thankful: Think about the good things in your life, even the little ones. It could be a tasty biscuit, the feeling of the wind on your face, or the love of your family and friends. The more you notice these good things, the happier you’ll feel!

Spreading Happiness

What can you do for others to make them happy? You can be a happiness superhero for others too! Here’s how:

  • Share your smile: A smile is like a sunny ray of happiness! When you smile at someone, it can brighten their day and make them feel happy too.
  • Check in: Sometimes, people might feel lonely or sad without telling anyone. So, it’s nice to check on your friends and family to see how they’re doing. Sending a kind voice message can show them you care!
  • Celebrate Success: When someone achieves something, big or small, it’s like they’ve won a shiny trophy! You can celebrate their success by saying kind words or giving them a special gift like a cake. It’s like sprinkling extra happiness on their happy moment! For example when we have our exciting AQA awards ceremony, congratulating someone who has won an award is an amazing way to celebrate them.

Remember, happiness is like a special treasure that you can share with everyone around you!
