Meet Monsurat. She first came to us at RSBC as a teenager, attending our social groups so she could meet other blind and partially young people.
She then attended Dorton College, our specialist further education college.
Employment support
After finishing college, Monsurat worked with our Employment Support Adviser, who gives specialist advice and support to young blind and partially sighted people to help them follow their chosen career path.
We helped Monsurat to:
- Decide on a suitable role
- Find job opportunities
- Create the perfect CV
- Prepare for interviews
- And above all, believe in herself!
Monsurat also received training on the specific computer packages she needed for potential jobs.
Determination
After ten years of support from RSBC and thanks to her determination, Monsurat landed the job of her dreams in 2021. Her hard work paid off!
She started a new job working for the Office for National Statistics, working on the 2021 Census.
