RSBC has a vacancy for an experienced and self-motivated Mobility and Habilitation Specialist to deliver high quality mobility training to our students and to support our work ensuring that their ability to be independent is continually extended and improved. You will undertake risk assessments to ensure the best possible support for young people in finding the safest and best routes possible to enable them to attend lessons, sessions, work placements and other destinations safely and independently. This role also delivers sighted guide training to our employees and volunteers on a regular basis.
The successful candidate will have a nationally recognised qualification in Habilitation training for children and young people with a visual impairment and significant experience working with VI young people, including those who may have additional support needs. Excellent communication skills are essential and good IT and report writing skills would also be beneficial.
There will be regular weekend and occasional evening work so the successful candidate will also need to have some flexibility in working hours to adequately meet the needs of the service.
Due to the nature of the Society’s work, the successful candidate will also be required to hold a current and acceptable enhanced DBS check, or be willing to undertake one.
